Hello my dear readers! // Olá meus queridos leitores!

I am sorry for disappearing for more than a month, but my Summer vacation in Brazil was pretty busy. Besides the need for healing of my homesickness (family, boyfriend, friends, beach, rice and beans, barbecue, “caipirinha”, etc), I was also doing an online Summer class and working at a showroom in São Paulo. Result of all this wants and needs? Me trying to accomplish 6 month plans in only 3 and almost going crazy. Well, never mind. Now I am back to New York and with a lot of news for you! // Devo a vocês as minhas desculpas pelo sumiço dos últimos dias, mas as “férias” foram agitadas esse ano. Além de colocar as “saudades” brasileiras em dia (família, namorado, amigos, praia, arroz com feijão, churrasco, caipirinha, etc, etc), eu ainda estava fazendo uma aula online da faculdade e trabalhando em um showroom em São Paulo. Resumo da história: eu tentando encaixar planos de 6 meses em 3 e quase endoidando. Enfim, menos enrolação e mais ação porque eu estou sem tempo a perder!

Today’s post is about one of the last and best discoveries that I’ve made in NY when it comes to retailing: the Brookfield Place, the newest mall in the city at the Financial District. I’ve already heard about the place, but was only able to visit it on my last week here in NY before the summer. I liked it so much that I found time to go twice in the same week! Brookfield Place is a Class A shopping mall that opened at the Wall Street region, very close to where the WTC used to be and where today is located the 9/11 Memorial and the One World Trade Center. Without any doubts, the Financial District is the fastest growing region of the island. There you’ll find huge and innumerous new enterprises, offices, stores, restaurants, etc. In addition to the mall, the memorial and the new WTC, I recommend a visit to the new Fulton Street Station. The station was reformed, so it unites some of the main subway lines in the city in an extremely modern and beautiful building. // O post de hoje é sobre uma das últimas e melhores descobertas que eu fiz em NY na area do varejo: o Brookfield Place, o mais novo shopping da city no Financial District. Eu já tinha ouvido falar do lugar, mas só consegui ir visitar na minha última semana em NY, com direito a “repeteco” na mesma semana porque eu amei! O Brookfield Place é um shopping classe A que abriu na região de Wall Street, bem perto de onde ficavam as Torres Gêmeas e onde hoje está o Memorial do 11 de Setembro e o One World Trade Center. Sem dúvida alguma essa é a região da ilha em maior desenvolvimento. São empreendimentos atrás de empreendimentos, escritórios, lojas, etc. Além do shopping, memorial e novo World Trade Center, vale a passada na Fulton Street Station, a estação de metrô que foi reformada e reúne as principais linhas de metrô da cidade.

Back to the Brookfield Place, because it is still quite new, there is still a significant number of empty stores. However, the amount of people during the week, the fashion stores mix, the architecture and sophistication, are foreshadows of success. The mall is all made of glass, in front of the Hudson River, so you’re constantly appreciating the view while shopping (you can even see the Statue of Liverty from there). For me though, the best part of the mall is its food court. Besides the fact that they have some of the best restaurants of the city located there, the atmosphere and decoration are perfect. In sunny days, I recommend to get your food and have a sit outside to enjoy the view while you appreciate your meal. // Voltando ao Brookfield Place, por ser um shopping novo, ainda faltam algumas lojas, mas o movimento durante a semana, o mix de lojas de moda e alimentação, a arquitetura e a sofisticação, são prenúncios de sucesso. O shopping é inteiro de vidro e de frente para o Rio Hudson (de lá, é possível avistar a Estátua da Liberdade). Pra mim, o ponto alto do shopping é a praça de alimentação. Além de reunir alguns dos melhores restaurantes e lanchonetes da cidade, a ambientação e decoração são perfeitas. Nos dias quentes, eu aconselho pegar a sua comida e sentar nas mesas do lado de fora, enquanto aprecia a vista do rio.

The other great place inside Brookfield Place is the Le District, which is a French Eataly. Can you imagine? It is a huge store, where you can find a boulangerie, a patisserie, restaurants, a cheese kiosk, crepes, special meat, and so it goes. It is perfect to buy gourmet products and gifts and enjoy a glass of French wine with cheese! In order to attract more people, the mall is always doing events there, including cultural activities and kids entertainment, take a look at their website for more information! How to arrive there? Get out at Cortland Street station if you are in the red or yellow lines of the subway, and at Fulton Street if you’re in the green or blue. É um espaço enorme, com boulangerie, cafeteria, patisserie, restaurante de carne, quiosque de queijos, mercado gourmet, creperia e assim em diante. Muito legal para comprar produtos diferenciados, presentinhos e saborear uma taça de vinho francês com queijos! O shopping tem também promovido diversos eventos para atrair mais público ultimamente, que vão desde programas culturais e esportivos até atividades infantis. Dê uma olhada no site deles para saber a programação. Como chegar? De metrô desça na Cortland Street se estiver na linha vermelha ou amarela e na Fulton Street se estiver na verde ou azul.
