Last Sunday (09/28), I went to Dumbo, a Brooklyn neighborhood where an arts festival happened for its 18th fall. The festival started in 1997, as a grass roots artists’ initiative, where they got together to exhibit their work in the park between the two bridges that connect Manhattan to Brooklyn: the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan Bridge. As the neighborhood is a place with many art galleries and studios, the festival grew to the point it is today, 3 days, 200,000 visitors, 400 artists, 100 studios and 50 galleries. I would say that it is art for almost a life! //Domingo passado (28/09), estive no Dumbo, bairro do Brooklyn onde há 18 outonos acontece um festival de artes. O festival teve seu início em 1997, quando um grupo de artistas se juntou para exibir seus trabalhos no parque que fica entre as pontes que ligam Manhattan ao Brooklyn: a Brooklyn Bridge e a Manhattan Bridge. Por ser um local de grande concentração de galerias e estúdios de arte, o festival foi crescendo e tomou as atuais proporções: 3 dias, 200.000 visitantes, 400 artistas, 100 estúdios e 50 galerias. Eu diria que é arte pra quase uma vida!
The environment is very festive and there are activities for every age. // O clima é de pura agitação e tem programação para todas as idades.
Besides the arts festival, I also went to Smorgasburg, which is a flea food market that takes place at the Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 2 every sunday until November, 23rd. It is difficult to choose what to eat, the temptating offers are inumerous! // Além do festival de artes, passei para conferir o Smorgasburg, que é uma feira gastronômica que acontece todos os domingos no Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 2 até o dia 23/11. O difícil é escolher o que comer. Tem uma opção melhor do que a outra!
