If you like any kind of handcrafts, it does not matter if it is scrapbooking, painting, drawing, collages or jewelry, I'll introduce you to Michaels. Imagine a huge store, full of all types of arts and crafts materials. You can find anything there, from decoration to scrapbooking materials. It's crazy! // Pra quem gosta de fazer artesanato, scrapbooking, costura, pintura, bijuteria, entre outros trabalhos manuais, apresento a Michaels. Pensa em uma loja enorme, com tudo o que você puder imaginar de materiais artísticos de todos os tipos e qualidades, que abrangem de scrapbooking a apetrechos para decoração de bolos. Isso mesmo, uma loucura!

There are two Michaels stores in Manhattan. One is on Columbus Avenue and 101st street and the other is on 6th ave and 21street. Both of them are huge, however, as the 6th avenue one is newer, it is more spacious and organized. It is a tipical "american style" store, where you can find everything in the same place. It is what retailers call a "one-stop shop". // Aqui em Manhattan eles tem duas lojas. Uma fica na Columbus Avenue com a 101 street e outra na 6a Avenida com a 21 street. As duas são igualmente gigantes, porém a da 6a avenida é mais nova e, portanto, mais espaçosa e organizada. É uma loja bem estilo americano mesmo, ache de tudo em um mesmo lugar. É o que o pessoal do varejo chamaria: "one-stop shop".

As a comparison, there is Blick, also a art materials store which is pretty big, but still smaller than Michaels. Blick is more focused on more traditional types of handcrafts, so even though they have less variety, compared to Michaels, their assortment is bigger. If you are looking for something more specific I would suggest Blick. They have many stores in Manhattan, one of them also at 6th avenue, very close to Michaels. If you don't find what you are looking for in one, there is always the other. // Como comparação, tem a Blick, que também é uma loja de materiais artísticos, bem grande, porém menor que a Michaels. A Blick é mais focada em artesanato mesmo, então apesar de ter menor variedade, o sortimento é maior. Para materiais artísticos mais específicos eu indicaria ela. A Blick tem várias lojas em Manhattan, sendo que uma fica também na 6a avenida, bem pertinho da Michaels. Se não encontrar o que estiver procurando em uma, tem sempre a outra como opção.
